Information of Border Measures by the Government of Japan

Beginning on 8 May 2023, the Government of Japan has downgraded the legal status of COVID-19 to be on par with the seasonal flu. This entails changes to border measures for travelers arriving in Japan.

All travelers and returnees will no longer be required to submit a certificate of negative result of COVID-19 test conducted within 72 hours prior to departure, nor will they be required to submit a valid COVID-19 vaccination certificate of three doses or equivalent.

The Embassy would advise for travelers to Japan to complete the applications (link below) for QR codes in order to fast track Immigration and Customs clearance upon arrival.
